LEISURE

Here is a unique opportunity to relax and get all your energy back as the Hôtel Miquel is surrounded by all the essential elements: fresh air, clear water, land and all it has to offer, trees and mountains, and what better to start with than the magnificent Plomb du Cantal mountain that you can see from the hotel windows!

Whatever you plan to do, whether it is mountain biking, picnicking, sight seeing, or taking walks round Therondels, the staff at the Hotel Miquel is there to help you prepare your excursions and make them a most pleasant and agreeable experience.

“Up, up and away!”
The invigorating air around Therondels is an encouragement to go climbing. You can get one of the clearest views of the stars at the Frons astronomical observatory - only 5 minutes away from Therondels - where the skies are free from light pollution, thus enabling you to see the distant galaxies.

During the daytime, you can get a panoramic view of all those wonderful landscapes below from a microlight aircraft.

Water everywhere!
Water gushes down from the mountains and can be found everywhere. This source of energy has been captured by man, and the Truyère river has been tamed. There are a series of hydroelectric dams, forming huge reservoirs. The Lac de Sarrans lies within a quarter of a mile’s distance by car from the Miquel hotel, and it is a seventh heaven for bathers and amateurs of water sports. The quiet seclusion of this place, lost in the middle of nature, and the wonderfully clear water are much appreciated by those fleeing from the crowded beaches of the coast.
The Laussac peninsula is one of these remarkable sites, and it is one that you cannot forget easily.

A fisherman’s paradise!
Trout fishing, fly fishing in crystalline clear rivers and lakes like the Sarrrans resevoir make Carlat an absolute paradise for even the most demanding fishermen. There are trout, tench, perch, to name a few. Measuring 30 km long on the Truyere river, and 100 m deep, the Sarrans lake, with its steep banks, is a favourite haunt of whitefish.
